Adding items to your cart is the first step in placing an order on Homegrown. This guide walks you through the process, including how inventory availability is handled and what happens if an item sells out before checkout.


How to Add Items to Your Cart

1. Browse and Select a Product

  • Search for products, browse by category, or explore vendor stores.

  • Click on a product to view details, including pickup location and availability.

💡 Fun Fact: Unlike big-box retailers, every vendor on Homegrown runs their own store—so you’re always supporting small businesses when you shop! 🏡🛍️

2. Adjust Quantity (If Needed) and Add to Cart

  • Use the +/- buttons to adjust the quantity before adding an item.

  • If a vendor has limited stock, you won’t be able to add more than what’s available.

3. Confirm Item Is in Your Cart

  • After adding an item, the cart icon will update with the number of items in your cart.

  • Your cart saves automatically and will be available when you return.


What If an Item Is Out of Stock?

  • If an item is out of stock, you won’t be able to add it to your cart.

  • However, you’ll see a "Notify Me When Back in Stock" button. Clicking this will send you an email when the product becomes available again.

🔔 Fun Fact: The “Notify Me” feature helps vendors gauge demand—so if enough people sign up, they may restock sooner!

  • The system verifies final availability at checkout—if an item sells out before you complete your order, you’ll need to remove it before proceeding.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add items from multiple vendors to my cart?

No. Each vendor has its own cart, so you’ll need to complete checkout separately for each one.

What happens if an item sells out while it’s in my cart?

The system checks stock when you proceed to checkout. If an item is no longer available, you’ll receive an alert and need to remove it before completing your order.

Does my cart expire?

No, your cart is saved indefinitely. You can return at any time and pick up where you left off.
