Overview
Homegrown charges a flat service fee to shoppers on each order to help cover platform costs and support our community-driven mission. This guide explains how the service fee works, how it appears in your ledger, and how it impacts your earnings (spoiler: it doesn’t!).
What Is the Service Fee?
The service fee is $0.99 per order and is charged directly to the shopper at checkout.
This fee helps maintain and improve the platform while keeping vendor costs low.
The fee is deducted from the order total before calculating your payout.
💡 Fun Fact: Unlike many marketplaces, vendors on Homegrown don’t pay platform fees per order—the service fee is covered by shoppers to support local business growth! 🌱
How the Service Fee Appears in Your Ledger
For each order, you’ll see a Fee transaction labeled “Service Fee” or similar.
It includes:
The order reference (clickable for order details)
The deducted amount (currently $0.99)
This amount is deducted from the order total but is not charged to you as the vendor.
Example Entry | Amount |
Order #10026 Service Fee | -$0.99 |
🚀 Pro Tip: Even though the fee is deducted from the order, you keep 100% of your product price—the fee doesn’t come out of your pocket!
Impact on Your Payout
The service fee is deducted before calculating your available balance.
You only receive funds from the order minus:
Credit card processing fees (2.9% + $0.30)
Service fee ($0.99)
Sales tax deduction
Reserve (20% held for 30 days)
