Overview
Refunds happen, whether due to cancellations, returns, or order issues. Homegrown makes the refund process straightforward by automatically processing refunds once approved by the vendor. This guide explains how refunds are reflected in your ledger and how they impact your available balance.
How Refunds Work
Step | What Happens |
Shopper Requests Refund | Shopper initiates a refund or cancellation request. |
Vendor Reviews Request | You approve or deny the request in My Account → Orders. |
Refund Processed Automatically | If approved, Homegrown automatically refunds the shopper’s original payment. |
Refund Appears in Ledger | A Refund transaction is created and tied to the original order. |
💡 Fun Fact: You don’t need to manually process any payments—Homegrown takes care of the refund process end-to-end once you click approve!
Refunds in Your Ledger
Each refund shows as a negative transaction in your ledger:
Type: Refund
Description: Includes order reference and refund reason
Amount: Shows refunded amount (deducted from your balance)
Tied to original order: Click to view details of the refunded order
Example Entry | Amount |
Order #106 Refund | -$15.00 |
Order #106 Refund - Credit Card Fee | -$0.74 |
🚨 Note: The $0.99 service fee is non-refundable and retained by Homegrown. The refunded amount excludes this fee.
Impact on Your Available Balance
Refund amounts are deducted immediately from your Available Balance.
If your balance is insufficient to cover the refund, your balance may become negative. If a negative balance is detected, your credit card on file may be charged to cover the balance.
Reserves associated with refunded orders are not released and may be adjusted accordingly.
